NO Booking of Seats:
As there will be many parishioners coming for the Easter Triduum
(Holy Thursday - Easter Sunday) celebration, there will be no
booking of seats for family members, relatives and friends,
first-come-first-served basis. On Good Friday, there will be
additional seats & TV screen arranged in front of the Church
entrance, Lampe's Square, Parish Hall & Fellowship Centre.

Christian Life Program:
Couples for Christ (CFC invites you to its Christian Life Programme (CLP), an integrated course intended to lead the participants into a renewsed understanding of God's call to them as people of God. The CLP is open to all single parents, widowed or separated individuals and single men and women over 21 years of age. Married persons could also attend without their spousees.

CLP starts with an Orientation Session at 8:00pm on 25th March, 2008
at the Stella Maris Parish Hall.

CFC is officially recognized by the Holy See (Vatican) as a private international association of the faithful with a juridical personality according to canons 298-311 and 321-329 of the Code of Canon Law. In Sabah, CFC is active in Sacred Heart Parish in Kota Kinabalu and has on-going CLP at St. Michael Parish in Penampang.
 

Parish Easter Triduum Celebration:
Holy Thursday (20/3):

Service at 6:00pm followed by Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament
at the Fellowship Centre till midnight. (Please refer Church notice
board for parish groups/ministries adoration roster)

Good Friday (21/3) :

8:00am - Stations of the Cross around the Church compound.
3:00pm - Good Friday Service. Additional seats & LCD/TV screens available
at the Parish Hall, Fellowship Centre, Lampe's Square & Church entrance.
Easter Vigil (22/3) :
8:00pm - Easter Vigil Service with Baptism & Confirmation.
Service will begin in front of the Parish Hall with the Service of Light,
then procession into the Church. Bring your own water to be bless.

7:30am - English Easter Mass
10:00am - Bahasa Easter Mass.

Chrism Mass 2008:
When: Wednesday March 12th, 2008  7:30pm
Where: Sacred Heart Cathedral
What is Chrism Mass?
Bishop concelebrates the Mass with his presbyterium (priests)
to renew their commitment to priestly service. When we
gather at this Mass, we are supporting & praying for our priests
to become faithful witnesses in the world to the salvation of
Christ won for all mankind. Blessing of Oils & consecration of
Chrism are held as these are used by the priests in
administering the Sacraments.
 

Use Church Toilets properly & keep it CLEAN:
SAD to say our church toilets are well abused: pee & litter
on the floor instead of inside the toilet bowl, water taps
spoilt FREQUENTLTY, toilet seats broken the minute they
are replaced, wash basin BROKEN...one would think elephants,
rhinos or orang utans have visited our toilets, hmmmm?#!
Do we abuse our house toilets the same way? If not, then why
must our Church toilets suffer these predicaments? Let us
work together to LOVE and CARE for our church toilets.

Ash Wednesday Fast & Abstinence:

Ash Wednesday this year (6 Feb) falls on Chinese New
Year's eve. Thus it would be difficult to begin Lenten
observation & the distribution of ashes on that day.
The diocese has some discussions & reached the following decisions:
1. The blessing & distribution of Ash Wed will be moved to
Friday evening (8 Feb) at 7:00pm
2. Fasting & abstinence will be on Saturday 9th Feb.
3. Since Friday 8th Feb is the 2nd day of Chinese New Year,
abstinence of meat is dispensed.
4. Lenten observance is to begin after the distribution of
Ash on Friday evening (8th Feb).
